This collection grew out of a very personal chapter in my life. For several summers, when chronic pain kept me close to home, my world felt smaller than I wanted it to be. My husband hung a bird feeder near our patio, and it quickly became a window into something bigger, brighter, and full of life. From my chair, I would watch the finches, cardinals, and bluejays come and go. Their colors, their songs, and their simple presence filled those quiet days with companionship and joy.

What began as a way of passing the time became something more—a source of comfort, a reminder of resilience, and an invitation to find beauty right where I was. Painting these birds is my way of honoring that gift. Each one carries with it not only the wonder of nature, but also the hope and healing they stirred in me.
